Blessing of the Fleet 10-Mile Road Race, Narragansett, July 28
The 46th annual event is held on a Friday night, beginning at Narragansett Middle School and finishing a short distance from the Coast Guard House on Ocean Drive. The popular 10-miler has been captured six times by former Warwick Vets star Matt Pelletier, including last year where he won by more than a minute with a time of 50:32. By the way, the 1-2 finishers in the women's race were also former high school standouts, Cranston East alum and twin sisters Allie and MIchaela Hackett. This is a great event that attracts all kinds of competition.
