Seven Events To Watch At The New England Meet

GIRLS' 200m

In last year's race just one runner broke 25 seconds, Massachusett's Alyssa Zee of Ashland, who clocked 24.98. Settling their racing spikes into the starting blocks are four that have gone faster than Zee's winning performance. The No. 1 seed is Hamden's Aisha Gay, who captured the CT state meet last week with a best of 24.59. There's also RI's 1-2 finishers, East Greenwich's Isabella Gentil (24.74) and Woonsocket's Quinn Harlan (24.78). Our pick as the overall favorite is the No. 4 seed, recent MA state champion Brooke-Lynn Williams of Norton. Williams has dominated the Bay State in the sprints this spring and this will be one of the first races where she is seriously challenged for the title. She has a PB of 24.24 from the New Balance Nationals last June so she is capable of besting her season best of 24.85 and taking it all on Saturday.
