Records Are Made To Be Broken, Right?

BOYS' 3K (and more!)

Record: 3,000m (8:21.1, 2016); 3,200m (8:51.23, 2016); 2M (8:53.94, 2016)

No surprise here. The same person we expect to break the record in the mile (and more!)  is the same one we figure will knock these three off, La Salle's DJ Principe. The Ram star's former teammate and current Georgetown freshman Matt Bouthillette is the recipient of the above R.I. marks. He set the 3,200m record at the Glenn B. Loucks Games. The 3K and two mile were both broken at the Brooks PR Invitational. The former was eclipsed en route to his fifth-place finish. After his brilliant third-place finish in the 2M at the indoor nationals where he smashed his own indoor record with a time of 8:47.40, we're convinced Principe will etch his name in the books three more times. Where will these records be broken? It probably won't be at the New Balance Nationals where Principe will more than likely defend his crown in the 5K. We believe he is competing at the Loucks Games in the 3,200m where he can break that mark as well as the 3K. The two mile might be tough with limited high-level invitationals that will fit into his schedule. One race is all it will take, though. So if he's lined up in the two mile this spring, we could be saying bye to that one-year-old record.
