5. Courtney Corrin Finds Her Groove, Sets All-Conditions No. 5 All-Time 21-6 Long Jump

"It was definitely a rollercoaster," Courtney Corrin said of her long jump competition on Saturday that produced the All-Conditions No. 5 All-Time mark of 21-6, her first personal best in two years.

Corrin's first jump was a foul before recording two jumps at 20-9, then 20-10.

The rising senior at Harvard-Westlake High School (Calif.) jumped 21-5 (+2.1) last weekend at New Balance Nationals Outdoor to place runner-up to Kate Hall, who set the national high school record at 22-5.

"I remember sitting there like, 'if Kate was here, would she be jumping 20 feet 9?' And I said, 'no, she would probably be jumping 22 feet,' and said, 'I need to buckle down and I want to jump over 21 feet and to do that, I just need to bring it.'

"The last one, I was like, 'hey, I'm here, let's do it.'"

The 21-6 jump is her third career jump over 21 feet. Before last weekend, she had not jumped further than 21 feet since she set the national freshman class record of 21-0 in 2013.

The competition signals a turning point for the star, who struggled to consistently jump over 20 feet in her sophomore year. What's next?

"Until I get 23 feet, I'm not happy," she said. "But I'm just excited with the progression I'm going and sophomore year was hard for me, but now I'm back and I'm excited."
