Erica Pena, senior, Toll GateErica is not only the top returnee among hurdlers,
but one of the most versatile. The talented Titan ran sub 20 minutes for the 5K
at the cross-country state meet, placing 23rd overall and qualifying
for the New England Championships. She also has cleared nearly five feet in the
high jump, has a 600 best in the mid-1:40 range and has done 17-0.5 for the
long jump. Can you say pentathlete? For now, we’ll say hurdler and this season
Erica has a chance to be one of the best. She finished fourth at last year’s
state meet and ran her PB at the New England meet with a time of 8.8. Erica took
third in the 100m hurdles at the outdoor meet, an event she’ll be the No. 1
runner from 2014.
