Grab your XC team & Sign up for the Newport 5K info about the 5K is on the website and will start after the Half Marathon and Marathon at 8:00am and 5K times will be uploaded for any high school, college, alumni runners to milesplit as a XC season.

Join us in the City-by-the-Sea for this stunning marathon, half marathon and 5k. Newport Rhode Races partners with the upcoming Annual Newport Daffodil Days Festival to give you a true Spring Newport Experience. Our courses will pass along many of the over 1,200,000 starting to bloom around the City by the Sea. (We'll call it Dash through the Daffodils!)
We are excited and optimistic for our 2021 event. When many events around the world were forced to cancel in 2020, we were fortunate enough to work with local and state officials to come up with a COVID-19 safe race plan which has become a model for other events of ours. We know that races will still not look totally "normal" in 2021, but we are committed to creating a great race experience for our runners. We will update runners as we get closer to the 2021 race with the full action plan, but we expect that the event will take place with some socially distant protocols, as well as a participant cap. Our team is working hard to create a safe race experience for you and we look forward to hosting you at Easton's Beach, and kicking off the race season in Newport.
Please note - The virtual runners will be prohibited from joining us on race day if we are under strict participant caps. This is to ensure that we abide by all local and state guidelines and ensure we live up to the demands and restrictions placed on us as a condition of our race permit.
We have set a low participant cap at this time as we are not sure what the State will have for COVID protocols in April. We may be able to open up more spots, so we would encourage you to sign up for the wait list instead of the virtual race if wish to join us in person as we will pull from the waitlist first. There is no fee to sign up for the waitlist, you are only charged once you accept the bib into the race. You can alway sign up for the Virtual event at a later date as that is unlikely to sell out until much closer to the race date.
The Marathon will start at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, April 17, 2021 at Easton's Beach in Newport, RI. The Half Marathon will start at 7:45 a.m. from the same location. The 5k will follow at 8:00 am - all from the same beautiful seaside start.
Beach Mile will start at noontime, on the beach adjacent to the finish line. It is an out and back on Eastons Beach, finishing under the Race Arch. As the race is on the beach, please plan for uneven surfaces, beach debris, seaweed, shells, all those wonderful items that we love about the ocean. This will be part of the challenge of completing the course.
The marathon course is USATF certified and is a Boston Marathon Qualifier.
Please respect our native environment - STAY OFF THE DUNES, use trash receptacles, and recycle as much as possible.
Please Note: Newport Rhode Races will be happening rain or shine. Because of the logistics of planning for a race of this size, we cannot offer refunds for any reason. In the event that weather is severe enough to create an unsafe environment for participants, organizers will cancel the event with no refunds issued.
