Several Rhode Island high school athletes posted personal records at the Classical Classic on May 2.
Holly Speranza (La Salle Academy) ran 11:39.86 in the girls' 3000 meters, improving her previous best of 12:12.59 from May 2025. The sophomore finished 11th out of 19 competitors and ranks 15th in the state and sixth among sophomores.
Braden Phyfe (Moses Brown School) clocked 4:35.74 in the boys' 1500 meters, bettering his previous mark of 4:48.49 from January 2026. The junior placed 46th out of 116 runners and holds the 50th position in Rhode Island and 21st among juniors.
Jamel Flomo (Bishop Hendricken) posted 51.48 in the boys' 400 meters, lowering his previous best of 52.93 from May 2025. The junior finished fifth out of 56 competitors and ranks fifth in the state and third among juniors.
Anna Lafontaine (Ponaganset) ran 15.84 in the girls' 100-meter hurdles, improving from her previous mark of 16.41. The junior's time set a school record and placed fourth out of 41 competitors, ranking fourth in Rhode Island and first among juniors.
Molly Slinko (Cranston West) ran 11:01.15 in the girls' 3000 meters, improving her previous best of 11:46.18 from February 2026. The freshman finished sixth out of 19 runners and ranks 16th in the state and second among freshmen.
Cormac Moran (East Providence) clocked 2:01.21 in the boys' 800 meters, bettering his previous time of 2:05.02 from February 2026. The freshman placed fourth out of 63 competitors and ranks sixth in Rhode Island and first among freshmen.
Steven Harvey (Portsmouth) threw 44-9 in the boys' shot put, improving from his previous mark of 41-6.25. The senior finished sixth out of 54 competitors and ranks 33rd in the state. Harvey also set a personal record in the discus, throwing 131-3 to improve from 116-11.
