Shelby Greany wins USATF Jr. cross country title

Spokane, Was. - Providence College freshman Shelby Greany won the USATF Championship today.  Competing in the junior 6,000 meter, which is for athletes under 20 years old, Greany ran 20:27 to beat Emily Sisson of Chesterfield, Missouri by five seconds.

Greany, a star runner from Suffern, NY since middle school, qualified for four straight Foot Locker National Championships in high school, placing 7th her senior year.

While she has always been a dominant cross country runner Shelby was an even better steeple chaser, running 6:33.7 her senior year for the 2,000 meter distance, setting the national record.  Last summer she was 2nd at the USATF Jr. Championships in the 3,000 meter steeple chase.
