La Salle always produces top-tier runners, and Phil Simas of La Salle seems to be next in line. He has run 8:59 indoors and outdoors while also running a 16:29.6 at Great American. Arguably more impressive was his New England's race in cross country where he was 38th overall and the 10th Rhode Island athlete across the line. This came after an injury caused him to DNF at states the previous week. If he can replicate that success this season, he will help La Salle in the hopes of a state championship.
