MIAA Board Votes To Cancel Winter Sport Tournaments

Earlier this week the MIAA had a board meeting to determine how they would handle winter sport championships and various other board decisions.  Cross Country is currently going on, but there is no championship season for 2020 for Fall Sports.

With the winter season on the horizon, MIAA voted unanimously (20-0) to cancel winter sports tournaments, which includes Indoor Track & Field, for the 2020 season and also voted unanimously to keep the end date for winter sports at February 21st.

The start date for winter sports still looks to be November 30th, but it'll be a season similar to the current cross country season, though it'll be tricky for indoor track venues to accommodate meets with limits to how many people can be in a facility at once and with no spectators helping pay for the cost of hosting an indoor event.

We will update this article once more information becomes available for the indoor track season, but we are heartbroken for all of the track and field athletes that have had state championship goals over their high school careers.
