A message from the RIIL on some updates on these events is below:

The main thing to emphasis is that we are not allowing spectators at all.  We know parents will be disappointed but there is no way to guarantee that we would be able to limit the total people on the East Greenwich campus to the state required 250 person maximum.  You need to tell parents to understand this and do not do anything to sneak on the grounds.  I am as disappointed as they are and if they need someone to vent at, let them at me.  This is the best decision we can make for everyone.

With that in mind, these are some of the rules:

--We are working on a bus parking schedule now and will get that to coaches later this week.

--If parents are bringing the athletes to the meet, there will be a specific drop off and pick up procedure that will be e-mailed later this week.  Drop off can be done at the circular driveway near the entrance of the school, then the driver must leave.  When the parent comes back to pick the athlete up, they will receive directions to pick them up at the Meadowbrook School to the rear of the start/finish line area.  There is no parking at Meadowbrook so parents must only come there for pickup when their athlete calls for them.

--For coaches coming by car, you must let me know by e-mail before Friday so I can put you on the list to park in the student parking area.

--Coaches are still responsible to make sure their athletes pass the Covid checklist before they come onto the grounds.  Please do this on the bus before arriving or checking the athletes as soon as possible if they are dropped off.

The East Greenwich staff will be making separate team areas for each division.  Remind your athletes and coaching staffs to keep their masks on at all times unless we tell them to take them off.  When they finish their race they should plan to put the masks on as quickly as possible and leave the finish area and return to the team area.  I know the runners have been great all season but help us get through the last few weeks.  These will probably be some of the same restrictions over the final two weeks of the season as well.

The tentative races should all have about 110 to 140 runners in each.  This year we are dividing the boys junior varsity races a little different.  In past years we allowed every school to run ten people maximum in JV-1 and the remainder in JV-2.  This year we want to try it by time.  The first section is seeded and only runners under 22:00.  We want the coaches to be on the honor system and only put legitimate athletes in this race and everyone else in the JV-2.
