AAU Club Nationals Retro: ATL Zooms To Meet Record

It was over by 150 meters.

Three days before the girls 15-16 age group 4x100 finals at the AAU Club National Championships in 2019, ATL Zoom put down a historic performance in the preliminary heats.

That was the consensus after 150 meters.

ATL Zoom grabbed the lead and ran away with it. With pristine hand-offs between each athlete, the Georgia-based track club extended its lead on the third exchange and ran away with the victory on the anchor, setting a new meet record in the process in a time of 45.73 seconds.

That time surpassed the previous meet record of 45.75, which was set seven years earlier in 2012 by United Speed Alliance.

The group of teenagers from Atlanta included Imari Johnson, Jordyn Parker, Niasija Wright and Rasunek Tyler-Thompson.

Three days later, ATL Zoom didn't rest on its laurels.

The ladies returned to the track at the Wide World of Sports Complex in Kissimmee, Florida, and put down another winning-effort, taking the championship in 45.95 seconds.

Like their previous outing, it was as dominant as before, nearly two seconds ahead of the next closest team.
