Brown Reinstates Men's Cross Country & Track

President's Full Letter

Brown University has reinstated the Varsity status of its Men's Track & Field and Cross Country Teams. Brown's President Christina Paxson notified the Men's Team via a zoom meeting on Tuesday evening. This is good news for Georgia athletes Griffin McCauley and Ben McCoy, along with the entire Men's and Women's squads.

Students, alumni, and parents shared very personal stories of the transformative impact that participation in Track & Field and Cross Country has had on their lives. Also, members of the Women's Track and Cross Country Teams made a compelling case that eliminating the Men's program would adversely impact the Women's program.
With Men's Track & Field and Cross Country reinstated, Brown's Varsity program will now include a total of 32 teams. Reinstatement is effective immediately.
