What Girls Will Make The Biggest Impact During the Indoor Track & Field Season?

Ellie Lawler, South Kingstown

Lawler has had success on the track oval, but not quite the success that she has had on the dirt trails where she is the three-time state cross-country champion. The Rebel standout was a runner-up to La Salle Academy's Grace Connolly in the 3,000-meter run at last year's indoor states and had an all-time best for the 3K of 10:07 by finishing fourth at the Yale Track Classic earlier in the season. Lawler is coming off another fantastic year of cross-country where she captured state title No. 3, finished second at the New England meet and was 15th overall at Saturday's Foot Locker Nationals. She'll have some tough competition to contend with in the 15-lapper, including Connolly, Portsmouth's Elizabeth Sullivan, La Salle's Emily Kane (and more!). We're thinking she'll be one of a few that will crack 10 minutes this year with a sub 9:50 a definite possibility.
