Rhode Island Memorable Outdoor T&F Moments: East Greenwich, 4x800m, State Meet

Over the next few weeks, MileSplit RI will feature what we consider the best performances of the outdoor track & field season. This was an arduous task to undertake as there was an abundance of fine efforts turned in by our Rhode Islanders throughout this spring campaign.  Here's our latest...

East Greenwich

4x800m, State Meet

There is no question this outdoor season has been the Season of the 800 with 15 runners dipping under two minutes this spring. Collectively, East Greenwich has been the middle distance headquarters with six under 2:02, including three less than two minutes. No surprise, the Avengers have been our dominant team in the 4x800m relay with the foursome of Cebastian Gentil, Dante Prosseda, Quentin Viera and Colin Cianciolo. This talented quartet faced some stiff competition in the Ocean State with the likes of Bishop Hendricken and North Kingstown capable of a low eight-minute time.

The gifted Avenger runners won the Southern Division, Class C and state  titles. At the New England Championships, E.G. finished third overall with an all-time best of 7:49.85. But it was their performance at the State Meet that we feel belongs at the top of the list. Toeing the line with a strong Hawk and Skipper squad, East Greenwich secured the crown with a meet record of 7:54.36.
