The sixth annual East Coast Invitational will be held this weekend at the Providence Career and Technical Academy fieldhouse. The meet will feature a series of three relay events on Friday followed by a full state of events on Saturday, including an Elite Mile that will act as a qualifier for the Junior Mile of the New Balance Grand Prix in Boston on Jan. 28.
More than 2,000 athletes from schools throughout the northeast region will be making their way to the capital city for the East Coast meet. There will be more than 50 runners competing in the Youth Mile, which gets things started on Saturday at 9 a.m. That will be followed at 9:30 with the Open Mile, where 20-plus are scheduled to toe the line.
