Cumberland's Sean Lavery was a winner in the 1,000m and was fourth in the 3,000m.

Several athletes put themselves high on the national rankings with their performances at Saturday's RITCA Invitational.

La Salle Academy teammates DJ Principe, Matt Bouthillette and Jack Salisbury recorded the three fastest times in the nation with their 1-2-3 finish in the 3,000-meter run. Principe captured the individual with a time of 8 minutes, 34.91 seconds. Bouthillette took runner-up honors at 8:34.99 and Salisbury was third in 8:37.58.

Barrington senior Bobby Colantonio, last year's second-place finisher at the states, won the 25-pound weight throw with a distance of 78 feet, 11 inches.

In the 3,000m, La Salle senior Eliza Rego clocked a nation No. 2 of 10:16.74, while classmate Karina Tavares was second at 10:23.63 (US #4). 

Toll Gate's Courtney Jacobsen won the 20-pound weight with a toss of 53-3.5 (US #2). Smithfield's Meagan Malloy was second at 50-0 (Tied, US #3).

Other impressive wins included Cumberland's Sean Laverty in the 1,000m (2:37.85), Barrington's Mars Bishop in the 1,500m (4:09.76), Westerly's Randi Burr in the girls' 1,500m (4:50.98) and Central's Donatien Djero in the 300m (36.53).
