Kelly dominates hammer at Carribbean Invite

Adam Kelly, one of the nation's best hammer throwers, proved his worth this past weekend at the Caribbean Scholastic Invitational.

The Barrington High senior, who was one of 14 boys chosen for the international competition in Havana, Cuba, captured the 13-pound hammer with a winning heave and meet record of 222 feet, 1.25 inches. He was also fourth in the six kilo shot put with a distance of 47-7.75.

After a few days off in Rhode Island, Kelly will head south again for the New Balance Nationals in Greensboro, N.C. The Eagle standout, along with junior teammate Bobby Colantonio, are expected to battle for individual honors.
