Meet Preview
All the late practices, all those hard workouts during a VERY tough winter, all the sacrifices.
It all makes sense this Saturday when the best athletes in Rhode Island make their way to the Providence Career and Technical Academy field house for the R.I. state indoor championships. Despite the excessive snow, it's been a great season so far with three state marks already set this season by Hope's Quashira McIntosh (55-meter dash), La Salle's Eliza Rego (1,500m) and Barrington's Adam Kelly (25-pound weight). And, at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix on Feb. 7, we almost had a fourth when La Salle's Jack Salisbury came less than a half second from a state record by finishing second in the Junior Mile with an astonishing time of 4:08.75!
Who will win this weekend? Can La Salle pull off the double crowns like it did last year? Will more records be broken on track & field's biggest stage? We'll find out this weekend, and RI MileSplit will be there providing you with all the coverage you need.
For starters, we'll once again have LIVE results. Just click here (or link above) on race day for up-to-the-minute results.
Below, you'll find all the information you'll need for the upcoming state meet.
(After his performance at the NB Indoor Grand Prix's Junior Mile, Jack Salisbury will be looking to lead La Salle to another state title with some big points in the distance events.)
