Vinaccio, Lynch first R.I. high-schoolers at St. Pat's 5K

Ken Vinaccio was the top R.I. finisher among high-schoolers at the annual St. Pat’s 5K on Saturday. Vinaccio, a senior from Scituate High, was ninth overall with a time of 17 minutes, 50.7 seconds for the Providence course.

The race was won by former University of Arkansas great Alistair Cragg, who was timed in 15:12.0. The Irish Olympian, who has a best of 13:03 for the 5K distance, actually ran 10 miles prior to the race and, once finished, logged 10 more miles back home.

In the female division, Hopedale (Mass.) sophomore Rita Maurais was 23rd among the 2,677 participants that made their way to the capital city for the festive event. La Salle Academy sophomore Cianna Lynch was 37th overall and the third female finishers with a time of 20:07.3.
