(Woonsocket senior Connor Fugere was a double winner, taking the shot put and the 25-pound weight)

The Rhody Track & Field Classic on Saturday produced quite a few strong performances by Rhode Islanders in the seven-plus hour meet.

-          Classical senior Maddy Berkson took control of the 600-meter run after just half a lap and won convincingly with a fast time of 1 minute, 35.52 seconds. Her time ranks No. 2 statewide, behind Barrington’s Abby Livingston's meet record of 1:34.87 at the Dartmouth Relays.

-          Narragansett junior Carly Timpson leaped the state’s best in the high jump, winning with a personal best of 5 feet, 4 inches.

-          Classical junior Alva Hicks is No. 1 statewide in the 20-pound weight after capturing the event with a season-best distance of 50-9. Teammate Bianca Donadio was second at 48-6. Rhode Islanders swept the top six placements.

-          North Kingstown senior Zachery Emrich dominated the 600, turning the race into his own personal time trial. He was less than a second from his state mark with a blazing 1:21.01 effort. Moses Brown senior Amos Cariati was second with a school mark of 1:24.3 and Central’s Josue Astacio, another senior, took third with a time of 1:25.60.

-           N.K. senior Marie Bolibruch was victorious in the 55 hurdles with a time of 8.61. She clocked a time of 8.64 in her preliminary heat.        

-          Connor Fugere of Woonsocket took care of the weight event. The Villa Novan senior edged Classical Tom Vadis in the 25-pound weight with a PB of 61-9. Vadis was just a half-inch behind at 61-9. Later in the afternoon. Fugere proved victorious in the shot put with a toss of 51-8.

-          Moses Brown's Nick Snow broke a school mark in the 300 by placing third with a time of 36.94.
