Updated Results

According to an MPA Press Release sent to coaches on October 22nd by Michael Bisson

"There has been a change in the Class B North Girls' Cross Country results from this past Saturday October 20, 2018 due to an error that was discovered over the weekend. As a result of this correction, the Class B North Runners-up with 52 points is Mt Desert Island High School and the Class B North Girls' Champion is Ellsworth High School with 52 points. The tie was broken between the two schools going to the results of the sixth place finisher for each teams. Following the race, the awards were presented were reversed. We are sorry for this error and the impact that it has had on both schools."

The scoring mishap came at places nine and ten where Caribou's Ashley Violette & MDI's Rachelle Swanson were awarded the same time 21:05.70, in the team scoring for some reason Swanson was given 9 points, and Violette 10. This gave MDI a score of 51 to Ellsworth 52. Upon further review Violette's offical time was 21:05.63 while Swanson was awarded 21:05.69. So in the team scoring this gave MDI 10 points instead of 9. The change resulted in a 52-52 score between Ellsworth and MDI, tied are broken by going to the sixth runner of each team. In this case the Eagles of Ellsworth senior Miriam Nelson placed 39th overall in a time of 23:21.40 while MDI's sixth runner freshman Azaria Long placed 42nd running 23:37.30

The two teams both advanced to Saturday's Class B State Championship.
