Athletes To Watch: Isaiah Powers, Westborough

For the next few weeks, MileSplit MA will feature some of our top individuals this outdoor track & field season in our Athletes To Watch series. Who are the athletes that should make an impact this spring? We'll do our best to let you know.

Athletes To Watch: Isaiah Powers, Westborough

With the success of eventual state, New England and national champion Erick Duffy, our top returning pole-vaulter this spring may have fallen under the radar. But this talented senior could be our next 15-footer. Powers, a runner-up as a sophomore at the 2016 All State Meet, did not compete at last year's meet. He did display his potential to reach high heights at a number of other meets, though. The Westborough standout cleared a personal best of 14-6 at the Western/Central Division 1 Championships on May 27. Just a few weeks later, he captured his age division at the USATF Junior Olympics Championships with a clearance of 14-0. He was second overall at the Region I Junior Olympics meet.
