Knights Of Columbus Relays On Saturday

Last year's girls' champion Portsmouth High.

The league portion of the outdoor track and field season officially begins on April 2 with more than a dozen meets taking part throughout the state. In terms of major meets and invitationals, that begins five days later on Saturday, April 7 with the annual Knights of Columbus 4-Mile Relays at Mount Pleasant's Conley Stadium. This year will be a special one for meet director and organizer Dick Duggan as the popular event will be celebrating its 50th anniversary.

In addition to a series of relays and a freshmen mile, the meet will also feature a hammer competition and a Special Olympics Relay. The meet will award T-shirts to the top 10 placements in the hammer and frosh mile. In the relays, T-shirts will be awarded to first- through fifth-place teams in each division and a plaque will be given to the first-place teams.

The meet is sanctioned for teams in Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, New Hampshire and Rhode Island. For additional information, click here. Below is a tentative time schedule.
