East Greenwich's Connor Sheridan earned All-American during Day 2 of the New Balance Nationals on Saturday.
The versatile senior finished sixth overall in the Championship Pentathlon with 3,460 points. Sheridan scored his most points (724) in the 1,000-meter run where he finished third overall with a time of 2 minutes, 54.06 seconds. In the other four events, he was fifth among his competitors in the 60m hurdles (8.44), took 11th in the long jump (20-4.5), placed eighth in the shot (41 feet, 5.25 inches) and was tenth in the high jump (5-8.75).
Sheridan improved from his 11th place finish at the 2017 meet. He won the decathlon at last summer's AAU Junior Olympic Championships.
Also on Saturday, Westerly's Randi Burr was 12th overall in the Emerging Elite Mile with a time of 5:07.66.
