State Meet Girls' Preview: Several Could Make An Impact Up Front This Weekend

Ellie Lawler, South Kingstown

When it comes to cross country, at least the last few years, Lawler has been the Queen of the Trails. She gets the nod as the favorite to make it happen again. She earns that distinction based on what she's done the previous two years on cross-country's biggest stage, but also because it appears she is peaking at just the right time. She won the Class B title this past weekend with the fastest time of the day and the only sub 18-minute clocking, a crisp 17:53.27 effort. Just eight days earlier, she captured the Bronco Invitational with a season best of 17:33.31. She holds the meet and course record with her winning time of 17:29.28 from 2015, a mark that could go down at The Reservation.
