Rhode Island Cross-Country Runners To Watch: Randi Burr, Westerly

Randi Burr, Westerly

Ever since she was in ninth grade, the now Bulldog senior has been one of our most consistent middle-to-long distance stars. We're expecting that to continue this year with a chance of a much-deserved individual title.

On the trails this fall, Burr will be looking for her fourth straight top-seven finish at the State Meet. At last year's states, she was a runner-up to South Kingstown's Ellie Lawler. She then finished fifth (second Rhode Islander) at the New England Championships.

The last few years, Burr has had a number of top-three finishes at the state level during the indoor and outdoor track seasons in events ranging from the 800 meters to the 1,500m. She certainly should be listed as one of the possible contenders for the overall crown this fall. With sub 60-second 400m speed, she would appear to have the advantage if the race comes down to the final stretch.
