Nikki Merrill turned in another stellar performance on the track oval on Saturday. The Portsmouth sophomore finished third in a loaded 800-meter race where she was timed in a state-leading and all-time best of 2 minutes, 9.12 seconds (US #28). Merrill also ran the anchor on the Patriots' fifth-place 4x800m squad that was timed in 9:25.99.
Westerly's foursome of Syndey Federico, Jaime Murray, Randi Burr and Helena Hall-Thomsen was second with a state No. 1 of 3:54.70.
La Salle's Emily Kane and Westerly's Burr went 2-3 in the 1,600m. Kane finished with a time of 4:53.33. Burr placed third in 4:54.52.
Toll Gate's Casey Gannon followed up her 300m hurdle victory at the State Meet with a third-place finish at the New England's. She was timed in 45.22.
