Quigley Top Bay-Stater At Boston Marathon


Former Archbishop Williams standout Sean Quigley was the seventh American to cross the finish line at the Boston Marathon on Monday. Quigley placed 22nd overall with a time of 2 hours, 15 minutes, 34 seconds.

The 32-year-old marathoner was up with the lead pack for the first 10 kilometers of the race, which he passed in 30:31. He was 1:05:41 at the halfway point.

Quigley, who was ninth at the 2016 Olympic Marathon Trials, is coming off a 1:05:07 effort from the Chevron Houston Marathon in January. He owns a best of 2:13:30  for the marathon distance, which he did at the 2014 Fukuoka Marathon In Japan.

Finishing second among Bay Staters was the BAA's  Brian Harvey, who placed 31st overall in 2:20:18. Arlington's Scott Mindel was 101st in the field of 30,000-plus with a 2:22:32 clocking.

In her debut to the marathon distance, Brighton's LIz Costello was the first Massachusetts' resident across the line. The 29-year-old Princeton grad was 18th among women and 148th overall with a time of 2:38.21. Cambridge's Madeline Duhan was the next local finisher, taking 19th (158th overall) in 2:38.44. Cambridge's Elizabeth Ryan placed 35th (480th overall) in 2:48:06 and Rachel Coogan was 41st (680th overall) in 2:51:46.
