Central High junior Rachel Mews won two individual events and ran a leg on her team's winning 4x200 relay at the first annual World Trophy Invitational, held Sunday at the PCTA track. Mews clocked 1:03.34 to win the 400 meters, and high-jumped 5 feet (1.52) in taking the high jump. In addition, she ran a leg on the Knights' winning 4x200.
Other notable wins:
\Leonardo Da Veiga, a sophomore from Central Falls, went 6.79 to win the boys' dash . . . Smithfield senior Alex Guertincleared 8-6 (2.59) to capture the girls' pole vault . . . Hendricken senior Josh Clift won the boys' 3000 in 9:39.69 . . . Classical sophomore Adedamonia Abujade clocked 8.60 for gold in the boys' high hurdles . . . From Burrillville High, it was Jeff Pichie winning the boys' 1500 in 4:26.29 . . . Prout High's Sarah Mitchell went 35-8 (10.87) to handily win the girls' shot put . . . the Barrington girls' 4x800 relay took the gold, with junior Anna Downes, sophomore Isabella Richardson and seniorsKerry Eller and Sabrina Hacket turning in a time of 10:50.97.
