Overview Of Ocean State Invitational

On Friday, the middle-schoolers took center stage with six races taking place on a quick 1.2-mile layout. One race of note was the seventh-grade boys where North Cumberland's Ethan Carpenter and Jack Casey of De La Salle both broke the course record and the second-best time ever on the course with their 1-2 finish. Carpenter was timed in 6:35.20, while Casey crossed the line in 6:37.0. Here's the most impressive part of the tandem's performances. The two previous fastest times in the race belonged to a pair of current high school stars, Sam Toolin of North Kingstown and La Salle's D.J. Principe, who presently is ranked No. 4 in the country.
