It's Sang and Cappello at Bobby Doyle five-miler!


With one final surge less than a mile from the finish line, Amos Sang pulled away from Tyler Pennel to capture the ninth annual Bobby Doyle Summer Classic on Sunday. Sang crossed the line with a winning time of 24 minutes, 5 seconds for the five-mile course, Pennel finished at 24:15. Eight runners cracked 25 minutes on a hot and humid day for racing.

Heather Cappello of the Boston Athletic Association (BAA) claimed the women's title with a time of 27:58, good for 42nd overall among the record 800-plus that answered the starter's gun at Narragansett Pier School. Finishing 62nd overall and second among women was Iona grad Salone Kosgei in 28:47.
