Guess What? X-C Season Creeping Up Fast!

Hard to believe but it's less than a month until the first official day of the cross-country season. Per usual, MileSplit RI will preview the upcoming fall campaign with several features, including runners and teams to watch.

In a recent email from league director Keith Lawton, he indicated that there will be a few new happenings this fall. For starters, there will be a new team added to the girls' program with Central joining the league this fall.

There will also be a few new courses with East Greenwich, Middlebridge and possibly Westerly with new digs. East Greenwich will host the season-opening Injury Fund Carnival, which is tentatively slated for Saturday, Sept. 3 at 9 a.m. The Avengers will also provide the site for the Freshmen State Meets, scheduled for Monday, Oct. 24, beginning at 4 p.m.

For the fourth consecutive year, MileSplit RI will be hosting its Twilight X-C Relays. The meet, which consists of a series of 3xMile Relays, will take place on Friday night, Sept. 9 at Diamond Hill State Park.  The following Friday, Sept. 16, MileSplit RI will also host the Blackstone Valley Invitational at a site to be determined. We thank you in advance for supporting our events.

Other important meets on the slate are the Ocean State Invitational (Sept. 23-24) and the Brown Rothenberg Invitational (Oct. 14) at Goddard State Park and the Class (Oct. 29), State (Nov. 5) and New England (Nov. 12) championships at Ponaganset.
