Rhode Island athletes were victims of a highly-talented field at the USATF Junior Nationals.
Saturday's competition saw six hammer-throwers toss further than the standard 57.50 meters for next month's IAAF World U20 Championships.
Finishing seventh overall was former Classical star Alva Hicks with a distance of 188 feet, 3 inches (57.38m). Recent Toll Gate graduate Courtney Jacobsen was eighth with a heave of 185-4. Carly Timpson, a onetime standout for Narragansett, finished ninth with a 168-9 effort.
The top two finishers earned a trip to Poland for the Workd U20 meet. California's Joy McArthur won the individual title with a distance of 203-8 (or 62.07m).
