Hendricken Captures Frosh State Crown


Duwuan Edwards captured two events and teammate Russell White was also victorious, leading Bishop Hendricken to the Freshmen State Title on Tuesday. The Hawks, who also relied on their depth, defeated second-place North Kingstown, 140-70.

Edwards earned his gold in the 200-meter dash (23.80 seconds) and the high jump (five feet, six inches). White leaped a winning 19-feet even in the long jump. 

In the 3,000m, the Hawks' Aiden Tierney finished second to La Salle's Joseph Dos Reis. Dos Reis broke the tape in 9:25.80. Tierney was timed in 9:28.60. Hendricken's Nick Braz was third in 9:32.70.

North Kingstown's Sam Toolin  was a double-winner, taking the 1,500m with a time of 4:25.80 and the 800 in 2:06.60.

La salle's Alex Ragosta edged Cumberland's Abram Brown in the 300m hurdles with a time of 45.00 to Brown's 45.30. North Kingstown's Cameron Allen was also under 46 seconds, placing third at 45.70. Allen won the 110m hurdle title with a solid 16.70 effort, just .10 ahead of East Greenwich's Aaron Parsons.
