We are here at the Fairmont Copley Hotel, the media headquarters for the Boston Marathon. Throughout the day, we'll provide updates of the top Rhode Island runners in today's race, which is held under sunny skies and temperatures in the low 60s at the start in Hopkinton.
Updates
- Former Cumberland High all-stater Hilary Dionne hit the opening 5K in the women's race at 18:40.
- Dionne passed the 10K mark at 37:35. The leaders went by the checkpoint at 36:20.
- Johnston's David Principe, father of La Salle All-American DJ Principe, has passed the 5K mark at 19:15.
- Dionne went by 15K at 57:02, a 6:16 per mile pace. She's at 2:40 pace.
- Former Cumberland standout Jason Reilly is running 2:30 pace after the first six miles. He went through 5K at 17:38 and 10K at 35:41.
- Principe remains consistent after 10K, which he passed in 38:31.
- Warwick's Robert Jackman is right behind his Tuesday Night Turtle teammate Principe. He was 19:16 for 5K and 38:36 for 10K.
- Dionne is maintaining a low 2:40 pace. She went through 20K in 1:16:50 and 1:21:11 at the half marathon.
- Running his first Boston Marathon, former Hendricken star Bronson Venable is on pace for a sub 2:40. He went through 5K at 19:24, 10K at 38:11 and 15K at 56:48.
- Reilly went through 15K in 54:11 and 1:13:21 at 20K.
- Still on pace for a low 2:40, Dionne went through 25K in 1:36:59.
- Venable on pace for his goal of sub 2:40. He went through Wellesley and the half marathon at 1:19:44.
- Reilly clocked 1:17:34 at the halfway point.
- Venable is 1:33:56 at 25K, a 5:52 pace.
- Principe is running 2:44 pace. He went through the half marathon at 1:21:55 and was 1:37:43 at 25K.
- Jackman is a few minutes behind his teammate, passing the half at 1:23:55 and 25K at 1:41:05.
- Just before hitting Heartbreak Hill, Dionne is 1:58.11 at the 30K mark.
- Reilly appears to be leading RI entries. He was 1:33:26 at 25K.
- Venable at 2:37 pace,. Hit 30K in 1:52:08.
- Dionne has slowed somewhat. She was 1:58:11 at 30K and 2:20:57 at 35K, a pace in the high 240s.
- Jackman is 2:04.19 at 30K.
- Venable continues to run sub 2:40 pace. He was 2:10:42 at 35K.
- Reilly has slowed over the Newton Hills and was 2:19:44 at 35K.
