No. 2 - La Salle takes coveted wheel at Penn Relays; Salisbury places third at Prefontaine Classic

We couldn't decide on this one so we chose them both

Prior to this year's Penn Relays Carnival, only two high school teams have ever won the coveted Wheel that goes along with a victory in one of the meet's Championship of America events.

La Salle Academy made it three on April 21.

The quartet of Matt Bouthillette, Cam Morenzi, Dan Paiva and Jack Salisbury combined for a winning effort of 10 minutes, 12.1 seconds in the distance medley relay, the fourth fastest clocking in the country at the time. Salisbury's clutch 1,600m anchor leg of 4:16 enabled the Rams to hold off a plethora of squads down the final stretch. Less than two seconds separated the top four teams in the field. Maryland's McDonogh School finishing second, just .09 behind the Rams.

Just a month after his performance at that meet, held at historic Franklin Field, Salisbury was at another hallowed stadium, the University of Oregon's Hayward Field. The Ram junior was among the nation's best in the high school mile at the Prefontaine Classic. Salisbury proved he belonged to be with the elite by placing third overall with a two-second PB of 4:06.74, a time that ranked him No. 10 nationally at season's end.
