Athletes to Watch: Quashira McIntosh

Quashira McIntosh, (E3 ACADEMY (Hope))

Quashira has a legitimate chance to score 30 individual points and 10 more as a leg on a relay squad. The speedy senior, a multiple state champion and record-holder, is the three-time defending titlist in the 100m and 200m dashes, two events she should win on Saturday and make a clean sweep for her career. She is far ahead of her rivals in these events with best of 11.7 for the 100m and a state record of 24.04 in the 200m. ‘Q’ will also be competing in the 400m where she owns the state’s best at 56.7. Add her leg on the top-seeded 4x400m relay and she has the possibility of creating quite a few headaches for her competitors, while also lifting her teammates to a state crown. Along with Quashira, Hope also has the top triple-jumper in Whitney Jackson, the No. 1 300m hurdler in Chevell Burgess and the fastest time for the 4x400m relay by nearly six seconds! It could be Hope’s day with Quashira as the ringleader.
