The RI MileSplit Cumberland Distance Classic is almost here. This year's meet is on Saturday, April 18 at Tucker Field, beginning at 2 p.m. As indicated previously, the Distance Classic will feature two NEW events, a 4x800-meter relay and a DMR. The 1,500m races have also been increased to a mile. Medals will be awarded for the top three finishers in each event. Athletes can participate in two events (one individual, one relay). Please keep in mind that there will be an Open Mile that is open to the public. Cost is just $4 per athlete or $50 per team (per gender). The order of events (10 total) will be as follows: 4x800m, DMR, Freshmen Mile, Sophomore Mile, 2K Steeplechase, 3K, Open Mile, Varsity Mile, 800m, 5K. Click HERE for flyer on the meet. Click (Page 1, Page 2) for an entry form or forms to the meet or just e-mail entries to Steve Mazzone at smazzone5@gmail.com. We ask that entries are submitted by Friday, April 17, so that we can set up heat sheets.

Just a reminder that the morning of the meet will be the annual Cumberland Throwers Pentathlon. This meet includes five weight events (hammer, discus, shot put, javelin, 25-pound weight) and offers individual and team awards. The meet begins at 9 a.m. with weigh-ins of implements at 8:30 a.m. For additional information, click HERE.

Don't forget on Saturday a handful of schools will be in Providence for the second annual Moses Brown Co-Ed Relays. This is a unique meet that feature 12 events comprised of teams of two boys and two girls. Field events start at 12:30 p.m. and running starts at 2 p.m.

Quick Note: La Salle Academy junior Jack Salisbury is entered in the mile run at the New York Relays on April 18. The meet, held on Randall Island, is a qualifier for the adidas Grand Prix Dream Mile.
