The cross-country season begins this Monday, the first official day of practice for all R.I. high schools.
For the next two weeks, MileSplit RI will let you know what’s in store this fall with a number of different features, including an overall preview of the best boys’ and girls’ teams and a look at the top individuals that should make their marks on the wooded trails.
We are anticipating another great year and we’ll begin our meet coverage with the season-opening Injury Fund Carnival at Burrillville Middle School on Saturday, Sept. 6 and will be back on site just four days later at Cumberland’s Tucker Field for our second annual Twilight X-C Relays on Wednesday night, Sept. 10.

What else can you expect from MileSplit RI during the season? Utilizing MileSplit’s outstanding data base, available to subscribers of MileSplit Insider, we will continuously provide our list of top athletes and teams based on their best times at that point.
Another cool feature that’s devised from our data base, and one we will do throughout the season, is Virtual Meet. The Virtual Meet compiles all the results of each athletes’ performances that are fed into our system and then scores a meet based on each athlete’s best or average time (whatever you choose) during the season. It's a great tool for coaches.
Below is a freebie for non-subscribers. In this Virtual Meet, we matched Southern Division boys’ rivals North Kingstown and Chariho Regionals, who finished 1-2 in the league last year and are predicted to place sixth and 11th, respectively, based on the Virtual Meet of the entire state that we did on July 6. Keep in mind, this Virtual Meet does not include incoming freshmen, just returning athletes from last year.
