Compare Athletes

Everything you ever wanted to know about MileSplit site functionality!

Sometimes rankings don't tell you all you want to know. You want to dig deeper and get a detailed analysis of how two athletes compare. Here's how.

Note: This article, and all other articles assume a couple of things. They assume that you have established a username (registered) on the system and that you are logged in. If you haven't done that yet, go ahead and do it now. In addition, many of the functionalities assume that you are a MileSplit Pro member. If you are not a Pro member already, you can become one here.

Like virtual meets, the Compare Athletes feature is accessed through the Rankings link on the main navigation bar. Simply click Rankings, then double-click on Compare Athletes, and you will see the following screen:

Now, you must select the two athletes you wish to compare. Type the name of the first athlete into the text box. If it's a common name, add a two-letter state abbreviation at the end of the name. Then click on Search. From the list of names that appear, find the athlete you want and click his or her name. Repeat the process for a second athlete.

A Compare button now appears in the silver-colored match-up area. Click compare and you get an instant report of that includes summary information on both athletes, both athletes' PR marks, and a record of all times they have run the same event at the same meet (technically, these are not necessarily actual head-to-head competitions, but it's easier to label them that way than to engage in a long explanation of the various possible meanings).

In each instance, a check mark is placed by the superior mark.

If you want to do another matchup, simply click on the blue Another Matchup link at the top of the comparison page.
